VOLUNTEERS ARE ALWAYS NEEDED!
Are you passionate about helping people and their pets? Neighborhood Pets Outreach & Resource Center is always looking for volunteers! Based on your specific interest and experience, we can fit you with the volunteer job that best fits you and your availability. All volunteers must be friendly, non-judgmental, flexible, able to work in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment, have great attention to detail, be able to follow direction and stay positive; be good communicators; and have an understanding of diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Basic pet knowledge is a plus. Read more about volunteer positions below. Retail / Outreach: Sign up new members (clients), explain program components, answer phone/questions, check out client (cashier), keep area clean and restocked, miscellaneous duties as assigned. Current hours are: Noon-4pm on Tuesdays & Thursdays; 10am-2pm on Saturdays. Transport: Pick up client and/or their pet from their home & drive to/from spay/neuter appointment or vet visit. Answer client questions. Must have own vehicle and be comfortable with dogs, cats, and people in your car. Flexible schedules are a plus. Early morning and late afternoon availability needed. Fundraising: Assist with developing, planning, and executing small fundraisers. Evening and weekend availability needed. Events: Staff community events such as festivals and information fairs, open houses, and other client appreciation or information events. Sell merchandise, explain program components, collect donations, volunteer & mailing list sign up. Evening and weekend availability needed. Vaccine & Microchip Clinics: Complete paperwork, explain services and pricing, hold dogs/cats, check out/collect payment for services. Experience working at a vet clinic is a plus. Experience working/volunteering at a shelter or outreach event is a plus. Held 3-4 afternoons per month (Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays). Registered vet techs needed. Spay/Neuter Clinics: Complete paperwork, explain services and pricing, hold dogs/cats, check out/collect payment for services. Experience working at a vet clinic is a plus. Experience working/volunteering at a shelter or outreach event is a plus. Held 3 days per month (cats on 3rd Tuesdays and dogs on 2nd and 4th Fridays). Volunteers are needed for 1 hour in the morning (7:30-8:30am) and 1-2 hours in the afternoon (3:30-6:30pm). Data Entry: Enter membership forms, comps, clinic and microchip data. Must have Excel or Sheets experience or be computer-savvy. Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm General Office Help: Answer phone and return messages; explain program components; schedule vaccine and spay/neuter appointments; fill out appointment letters and postcards; make reminder calls; general cleaning/organizing; bagging food and cat litter. Experience with Google Sheets is a plus. Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm. Training/Education: Assist at our free client seminars. You may be asked to handle dogs/cats; assist clients with their pets; answer questions; assist the facilitator; set-up and tear-down. Animal behavior experience or education background strongly desired. Mostly on weekends in the afternoon; some weekday evenings. |
