Spay/Neuter Program

Our low-cost Spay/Neuter Program is for qualifying Cleveland residents.

We are currently offering cat and dog surgeries.
The surgery co-pay is $30 for cats and $50 for dogs; it must be paid prior to scheduling.
Income verification is required to qualify.

To qualify, pets must be at least 8 weeks old and weigh at least 2 lbs. At the time of surgery, they can be vaccinated, microchipped, and have their nails trimmed for additional per-service fees. A current rabies vaccine is required before surgery. If you are unable to provide proof of a current rabies vaccine, your pet will need to be vaccinated on the day of surgery for a $10 fee.

IMPORTANT: To make an appointment, you must be an existing member of our program. To qualify for our spay/neuter program you must:
  • Live in Cleveland or East Cleveland.
  • Be able to either:
    • show proof that your SNAP or Medicaid benefits are active by either showing your confirmation letter from the county or pulling up your account on the benefits portal
    • show proof that your gross income does not exceed 150% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines

More about our program

Our spay/neuter program is made possible by support from The Kenneth A. Scott Charitable Trust, a KeyBank Trust, and generous individual donors.

Many families would like to spay/neuter their pets, but they can’t afford the cost of a traditional vet or, in many cases, of even a low-cost provider. Many of them also lack access to reliable transportation, relying on friends/family for rides.

Meet Luna. Luna's parents contacted us when a strange male dog came into their yard and attempted to mate with her. They knew they didn't want her to have puppies, and that to prevent an accidental litter, they needed to have her spayed right away. But they weren’t sure how they were going to afford the cost of the surgery. They heard about us from a friend, and remembered that we have a low-cost spay/neuter program. They called us right away, and we squeezed Luna in our schedule. Now she's never at risk of an accidental litter or a uterine infection, and her risk of mammary cancer is decreased.

Each year, we get over 1,000 calls from families just like Luna's.
We offer low-cost spay/neuter surgeries every month to eligible Cleveland families. Since 2016, the generosity of our funders and donors has led to over 4,600 spay/neuter surgeries.
