Resident Supervisor

Henry came into the old City of Cleveland Kennel (now Cleveland Animal Care & Control) many years ago as an injured cat, but he had nothing wrong with him. Since he was so sweet, the kennel's clinic staff decided to keep him. While at the kennel, his responsibilities included helping dogs pass "the cat test", sleeping in the clinic, and making the staff smile. While he was at the Kennel, Henry met Tommy, who was dumped in front of the kennel and started coming inside. Henry seemed to like him so they kept him too! Tommy's responsibilities included patrolling the kennel garage, and keeping the mouse population in the yard under control.

In 2019, when the kennel moved from the Steelyard to Detroit-Shoreway it was concluded that it was best for Henry and Tommy to retire - they had lived there for about 9 years. After a couple of tries at finding them the perfect retirement home, Neighborhood Pets staff and kennel staff decided that NP was the perfect fit for them. Our Executive Director, Becca, along with several NP volunteers formerly volunteered at the kennel and knew Henry and Tommy well.

Although the expectation was that Henry and Tommy would retire when they moved to Neighborhood Pets Resource Center, the boys decided differently. Henry is our resident supervisor. He checks to make sure that the cat food is bagged correctly and none goes to waste. Henry also keeps the rambunctious puppies in line with a well-timed swat, and he is always willing to model the latest cat fashions.

When not working, Henry eats lots of Fancy Feast, takes cat naps, and goes to great lengths to avoid taking his daily medicine.

Tommy crossed the Rainbow Bridge in July of 2022, and we miss him everyday.
