At Neighborhood Pets, we believe that caring for pets begins with caring for people. Serving a richly diverse community of Cleveland pet owners, we are committed to fostering an environment where every individual—regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, age, ability, socioeconomic status, or any other identity—is respected, valued, and empowered. |
Our mission is rooted in compassion and access. We recognize the systemic barriers that many pet owners face and strive daily to dismantle these obstacles by providing equitable support, resources, and services that enable people to keep and care for their beloved animals. Diversity strengthens our work, equity drives our purpose, and inclusion defines our relationships—with our clients, our team, and the broader community. |
Our staff and board are united in this commitment. We actively seek to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve within our leadership and team. Through continuous learning, self-reflection, and accountability, we aim to cultivate a culture where everyone belongs and every voice is heard. We understand that embracing diverse perspectives enhances our governance and decision-making, leading to more innovative and effective solutions. |

CARE stands for Companions and Animals for Reform and Equity, and they are the first national BIPOC animal welfare organization in the country, REDI (Racial Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) is a special training that pushes past the traditional framework of DE&I. Read more about it here. By completing this coursework, we are able to approach our work through a REDI lens, which helps us see opportunities to better partner with and serve our community. |
