Bonnie and Mike
Shortly after our Resource Center opened in early October, Mike and Bonnie came in looking for help. They had recently moved into the Slavic Village neighborhood, and were feeding a mom cat and her two kittens that were hanging around their back porch. Bonnie has advanced MS, and Mike cares for her daily at home. They live in an apartment with little furniture, and no appliances, and sleep on an air mattress. They couldn’t afford to keep up with the cat food for 3 cats on a daily basis. We gladly provided them with a bag of food, and took the next step to arrange to get all 3 cats fixed. Once fixed and vaccinated, they took both kittens indoors as their pets. (Mom cat went to a partner rescue group’s adoption program.) Bonnie couldn’t be more excited to have these two new family members! Her face lights up when she talks about them. Mike comes in our Resource Center regularly, so excited to show us the latest pictures he took on his phone, and tell us stories of what the kittens have been up to! These two kittens have brought so much happiness to this lovely family. They have thanked us so many times over for helping to save these cats, and help them keep them as family. Everyone deserves to experience the love of a furry companion, regardless of their income. All this family needed was a little help, and we couldn’t be happier to have been able to do just that.
